Is there a registration fee for Districts Medical Marijuana Program? A registration fee of $100 must be submitted with the completed application. It may be in the form of a certified check, money order, or cashier’s check, payable to DC Treasurer. No personal checks are accepted.
Is there an option to have the registration fees lowered? Patients with income equal to or less than 200% of the federal poverty level qualify for a 25% reduction in registration fees due to the District. Registration is $25. We can provide a list of acceptable income verification.
Do I have to register with a certain dispensary? You are free to choose your own dispensary, but once chosen this is the only one you may use during the year your registration is valid. You may switch, but there are fees to do so.
I’ve heard that the dispensary you choose will pay your registration fee for you, is that true? Yes, the dispensary owners are being very generous in helping patients offset the costs associated with joining the program. Upon registration with their dispensary and notification that you paid your registration fee; your account with them will be credited for the amount you send to the DC Treasurer.
Do you recommend patients to register with a particular dispensary? We know that all of the licensed dispensaries in the District have high quality medicine that has been grown, and produced under strict guidelines; so we recommend all of the dispensaries. We feel it is a personal choice of which dispensary will serve you best, and encourage you to reach out to the individual dispensaries when deciding where to purchase your medication.
Recreational Marijuana is legal in DC, why should I bother getting my medical card? There are several extremely good reasons why you should get your medical card. First, and most important is for SAFTEY. We know for certain that the cannabis being sold at the dispensaries is safe for consumption due to strict regulatory guidelines and testing procedures. We have no idea what was sprayed on cannabis to prevent common problems during growth, nor how it was cured or stored. Patients bodies require high quality, safe medication for optimum health. We also know that personal safety is assured at the dispensaries. Second, is ACCESS. Dispensaries offer access to the highest quality medicine available. The only way to produce completely clean concentrates is through having the facilities, equipment, and ease of access to testing facilities that are available only to licensed cultivation centers. Having access to completely clean concentrates is also a safety issue from a healthcare viewpoint. Also it can be a matter of civic duty for some patients. Many patients worked very hard to bring this SAFE ACCESS to DC. There is strength in numbers when it comes to showing why this initiative was so greatly needed by patients. Make your voice heard, be a recognized, legal medical patient. The laws may be progressive in DC, but the surrounding states are not as far along in their medical policies. Be a beacon of light, and an example for their legislatures.
I’ve heard access to medication is scarce and the prices are high at the dispensaries, is this true? There is plenty of medication available, as many as 50 different varieties. The price is is comparable to black market pricing; but the quality is superior to the black market.
Please submit this form to the physician treating your qualifying condition, to request that your medical records be forwarded to us. Alternatively, you may email the completed form to us at MD@CannaCareDocs.com; and we will submit the request on your behalf the next day that we are in the office.
