How to Celebrate 420 in Your State

Any time is a good time to consume cannabis, but there is one date that marijuana enthusiasts would say is more appropriate than any: April 20, at exactly 4:20 p.m. It is at this moment annually that joints are lit and pipes passed in various time zones around the world, in celebration of the mind-altering herb that so many have grown to love.

The backstory of 4/20

While many eagerly await the marijuana holiday each year, fewer know the details of its beginnings. It all started in 1971, when a group of five friends at San Rafael High School in Marin County, CA, would meet to smoke marijuana—immediately after their extracurricular activities ended every day at 4:20 p.m. They became known as the “Waldos” because they hung out along a wall by the school’s statue of Louis Pastuer, and “420” became their code for marijuana.

It wasn’t until years later when one of the friends, Dave Reddix, became a roadie for the Grateful Dead, that the band helped spread the word, and the term was further popularized by Deadheads.

How to celebrate 4/20

The best part of celebrating 4/20 is that there are no rules and no pressure. If you are vaccinated and/or feel comfortable meeting in person, you can have a casual get together with friends. While many of the larger annual festivals have been cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic, smaller celebrations are still scheduled around the country.

Renewing Your Medical Marijuana Card

So you have a medical marijuana card, and have been enjoying all that it has to offer. Whatever your condition, having access to a treatment that helps alleviate your symptoms can only be beneficial, particularly when it’s available to you at lower costs than the general public.

If you want to continue taking advantage of these benefits, there’s just one thing you have to do: remember to renew your card!

The renewal process is simple—there’s no need to resubmit medical records, since we already received them in the application process. And in most states, the process is not as expensive as the initial purchase of your card.

To renew your card, just contact us via phone to book a telemedicine appointment or request one online. If you’re scheduling online, you’ll be prompted to select the reason for your appointment; at this point, select “returning.” From there, the process will be the same as your initial application appointment.

Note: you may book your appointment with the same clinic you’ve visited in the past, but due to the transition to telemed, you may not see the same exact provider. Your medical records and personal information will be available to providers through our patient portal regardless.
